Course Structure

The Devavānī School of Sanskrit provides a methodology for learning Sanskrit that is thorough yet straightforward for the general public, and that takes into consideration the different interests that motivate people to study Sanskrit (philosophical, philological, spiritual, etc.). Towards that end we run a complete, sequentially-structured four-year course available in various modes, as well as complementary seminars and personal guidance. The Diploma in Sanskrit is a four-year long course of study, at the end of which the student is guaranteed to have acquired a complete knowledge of Sanskrit grammar and the skills necessary for reading, writing and understanding texts. The course syllabus is based on the three volumes of the Sanskrit Handbook by D.H. Killingley as well as additional materials created by the Devavānī teaching staff, and comprises four 60-hour levels.

- Introduction to Sanskrit: Level I (First Year)

- Sanskrit Certificate: Levels II y III (Second & third year)

- Diploma in Sanskrit: Level IV (Fourth Year)

Each level is offered in three equally equivalent and valid modes: traditional classroom mode, combined mode (attendance and distance learning), and distance-learning mode. Students have the option to change their mode of study at the beginning of each academic year.
