Editorial Vāc

The publishing house Vāc (a Sanskrit term meaning “word”) was set up for Spanish-speaking people to have a set of fundamental works and study materials for them to gain an insight into classical Indian culture. In early October 2009, Vāc has published the first volume of its Clásicos Sánscritos [Sanskrit Classics] collection, a translation of the ātmabodha (knowledge of the ātman). The collection comprises classic literature and philosophical texts that have been translated directly from Sanskrit into Spanish. Forthcoming titles in the collection are: Cuentos y fábulas de la India, Yogasūtras de Patañjali and Himnos del Ṛg Veda.

Vāc plans to publish the first volume of its didactic collection in the first quarter of 2010. This will be a translation into Spanish of Jan Gonda’s guide to Sanskrit grammar.
