 | Study of texts The Yogasūtras of Patañjali Course Syllabus Methodology: In each class we will read and study two or three sūtras, according to their level of difficulty. We will begin by reading the sūtras in Sanskrit directly. We will then analyze and explain the vocabulary and the grammatical structure of each aphorism. This way, we will be able to formulate a literal translation which we can then compare with various available translations and interpretations (Desikachar, F. Tola & C. Dragonetti, BKS Iyengar, et al). At the end of each session there will be time allocated to debate and exchanging opinions, both about our own proposed translations as well as about the philosophical and spiritual sense of the sūtras in the context of Indian tradition and/or our own personal practice of them.
