Introduction to Hindi.

Hindi is the most widely spoken language in India. Nearly 40% of India´s inhabitants speak Hindi. This course offers an introduction to modern Hindi and is aimed at beginners with no prior knowledge of the language. The objective of the course is to learn the phonetic system of the language, its syntax and semantics. The idea is to give students the basic tools to communicate in everyday situations in Hindi, covering speaking and listening, reading and comprehension.

Course in Pali, Language and Literature.

This course is designed as a basic introduction to the Pali language, its history and grammar. We will be using the methodology set out in A. K. Warder´s “An introduction to Pali”, published by the Pali Text Society of London. The method involves a gradual but total immersion in the practice and language of the Tipitaka, the Canon of the Theravada school, which contains some of the oldest existent Buddhist texts.

Every language lesson with be followed by a lesson providing contextual examples of the concepts and terminology central to Pali literature so that students also become familiar with this tradition and its importance for all Schools of Buddhism throughout the world.
